The Studio that Wouldn't

I must be losing my mind. Ok...I admit it. It's been gone a long time now!

I am still working on my studio. Is this ever going to be a reality? It seems like every time I get more done, more work pops out of no where and demands attention. What's up with that? I swear my walls and floor boards are growing cat hair - there is no WAY this much hair comes from two cats. I've never had a long-haired cat before so maybe this is just par for the course? You'd think I own 1200 cats with the amount of kitty hairs I've found. It kind of grosses me out.

I had hung my peg board a couple of months ago and have finally gotten into finding enough supplies that I can hang them. I also hung the shelves I made for my stamps and have begun filling those. I realized a problem, tho. I made 5 shelves - 3 that hang length-wise and 2 that are width-wise. I thought for sure that would be enough to contain my rubber stamp obsession. HA! I still have 2 humongous under-the-bed containers FULL of stamps. Where did I accumulate all these? Where am I going to put them all? Does one person really need all these? I suppose the answer is yes - especially if you're the Queen. ;)

I'd get the camera and take pictures of my progress if I wasn't so tired. I'll try to get to that in the next day or two.

I've gotten my partner for the Funky Art Journal Swap - but I haven't even started on my journal yet. I'm still flipping through Collage Unleashed to see what, exactly, I want to do. It looks like a great way to get my feet wet and begin creating again. I feel like that part has been dormant for far too long!

Thank goodness spring break is over as of tomorrow and the kids will be returning to school. I'm so done with all the fighting and arguing. It will be wonderful to have quiet next week!

March 29, 2007

It's only 6:30 in the morning but I can tell today is bound to be a strange day. It is snowing like crazy outside (7.5" since midnight) - one of those "surprise" snows that the weather forecasters didn't anticipate. That's par for the course here - especially in March. What is strange to me is that the local news is playing "Let it Snow" as they go to, & come back from commercial. Am I the only one who thinks that is a Christmas song? Every time I've heard it this morning I've had to remind myself Christmas has passed and it isn't December.

I've been on a sample binge lately. I have no idea why - I have enough art supplies to outlast the Monarchy...but it sure has been fun to collect all these little treasures! For example, I found the only British company that produces handmade wallpaper - and they offer samples. So I ordered some. I kind of thought they wouldn't send them to me since I am in the US - but they did. The "samples" arrived in yesterday's mail and WOW! 8.5" x 11" sheets of hand-stamped wallpaper in beautiful shades and hues. Running your hand along the wallpaper you can feel the painted designs - they are gently raised. It's beautiful! Between the wallpaper, the floor tiles and counter top samples I've accumulated I could almost build a house! I can't wait to get started working with these.

Studio still isn't finished. (I know - shock! Don't fall over from extreme surprise.) I've made tons of progress even if things almost look worst because of it. I suppose that's bound to happen - you have to lay everything out and clean it before organizing it again and putting it away. The boys have been sleeping in their room for about a week now - which is heavenly! They still have a monstrous mess in my living room but that will come in time. My first priority remains putting my studio together! I'm going to focus on that again today.

I got everything mailed out for my trades yesterday. That was an experience! I didn't know it was so expensive to mail beads! I already received the purse handles, hardware and metal tags from one of the people I traded with. I hope the people I traded with are happy with their new stuff - I know I can't wait to play with my new stuff!

There's a lot to be done today so I'm going to get busy. The fun never seems to end!

Insanity Reigns Supreme

So it's always something. I can't even begin to give you a rundown of what's gone on since I last posted - it's impossible. Too many things happen every day to keep up with them - and it's my life! If I can't keep up with them, it's a sure sign that it would take me a thousand entries to explain the latest happenings to you - and I would probably only accomplish confusing you.

However, I can say that one of the things that have kept me away from posting is my recent cleaning craze. I've been working really hard to get my artistic space cleaned up and ready to go. It isn't finished yet - but I did have the Lupus Society come and pick up several bags of clothes the other day. I also got a bunch of shelves hung. Cross your fingers I'm on to something!

My keyboard is all messed up - it isn't working well at all. I've got to get it fixed - and will add that to the ever-lengthening list of things to do!

Stay tuned for an update on my studio - including pictures!

I'm A Flower

While reading the blog of a gal I admire (http://aileensmusings.blogspot.com/) I saw this really cool "What Kind of Flower Are You?" quiz. Here are my results..

"You are a very sensual person. You like to experience all the sights, smells, tastes and textures the world has to offer. Ordinary be damned, because you want to do it all."

That makes me sound much more intriguing and interesting than I actually am!
